If you've had a child, you know how intense and special the 48 hours in the hospital can be. Your 1st baby, family and friends practically line the halls to meet your spawn. If you let it, your time at the hospital can be a revolving door of visitors. The sweetest moments though, are those when your immediate family is bonding. Once the baby is born and the delivery is complete, the baby is swaddled and warm, doctors and nurses have given you space, THIS. THIS, is where the magic lies. Whose features does he/she have? Look at that crazy hairline and those toes, those are definitely your toes. Strangely, in the quiet moments of the bustling hospital, you feel like you're on an island. The world seems to stop as you're left with nothing to do but gaze at this incredible, tiny human. 48 hours of transition after 9 or 10 months of baking a baby and likely, a few hours of delivery. It's amazing the recovery your body is capable of in that short amount of time. In the blink of an eye you'll waltz through the double doors with an itty-bitty peanut, strapped snugly in a bucket seat. The moment you walk out those doors is when life resumes or, when your new life begins.
